Professional Ethics for CSCA Members
As a chartered division of the American School Counselor Association, members of the Connecticut affiliate (CSCA) are bound by ASCA Ethical Standards for School Counselors. This document adopted by the ASCA Delegate Assembly in 1984 has been revised three times since its inception. The ASCA Delegate Assembly of 2004 completed the last revision under the direction of Dr. Carolyn Stone, the ethics chair at that time. ASCA's ethical code demands the highest standards for the profession. It addresses counselors' responsibilities to students, parents/guardians, colleagues and professional associates, school and community and to the profession.
