National School Counseling Week
February 1-5, 2010
National School Counseling Week is always celebrated each year during the first full week of February. This week helps focus public attention on the unique contribution of professional school counselors within U.S. school systems.
National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact that counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
Here in Connecticut, CSCA celebrates in a variety of ways. In the past, we have traveled to the State Capitol to speak with state representatives about our important role in helping students achieve, we have been presented with a proclamation by the governor (our most recent is posted on this site), and we have listed a number of creative activities and ideas to help our members celebrate the week in our home districts and schools. Look for these suggestions as February approaches!
Each fall, ASCA provides information that can be downloaded from its website to help school counselors promote the week, and ASCA also sells a National
School Counseling Week kit for a nominal fee, filled with more ideas and suggested activities. Ordering information is available at www.schoolcounselor.org.
